Google Maps directions

Points of mention with the directions:

The bike trail through Camp Pendelton, begins at the end of Avenida Del Presidente. The entrance is straight through on the left. Hopefully we should all be together anyway.

Stay straight on the trail, past the power plant, through the campground. You will cross under the 5 and stay East of the freeway until you are out of Pendelton. Do not go on the freeway.

Once in Oceanside, veer as South-West as you can. The Coast Hwy 101 is not a nice ride through Oceanside (although it will work). When coming out of the base, stay on Vanergrift, down into the Harbor and stay left around the Harbor. Make a left on Pacific St.

Park your bikes at the Pizza Port Bottle Shop in Carlsbad (building just west of the main restaurant)

The ride is straightforward from Carlsbad to Solana Beach. Just stay on the 101 South. I don't recommend jumping off onto any "walking" paths, as they're filled with strollers, dogs, etc.

At the top of Torrey Pines, go right onto N. Torrey Pines Rd. Don't go onto Genesse and the 5.

Stay on the west side of UCSD. North Torrey Pines Rd will curve around and will turn into La Jolla Village Dr. There is a steep down ramp (on the right) just as you pass La Jolla Scenic Dr. Take the down-ramp to Gilman and head right.

At the end of Gilman, there's a bike path (Rose Canyon Bike Path) just to the left of the "Do Not Enter" off ramp from the freeway.

When it ends, stay straight on Santa Fe past Karl Struass, right on Damon, which will curve around by In N out.

Damon will T bone Mission Bay Dr. It's a little difficult to see, but directly across the street, the Rose Creek Trail starts up. Use the crosswalk if needed, and USE the stairs at the trail head - it's only a few stairs and too steep and curved to ride down.

Pass under Garnet, and pass under Grand. Curve around Mission Bay Golf Course and go along Mission Bay Dr.

When you reach Fiesta Island Rd., stay straight on E Mission Bay Dr., and take the 2nd path on the right. The first path is the walking path, the 2nd is the bike path. Google maps couldn't handle this particular part correctly. Just know that the bike path is about 500 ft past Fiesta Island Rd.

The bike path will hit Mission Bay Pkwy - an actual street. Go left (backtrack) and cross Sea World at the light and hit the Old SeaWorld Dr path. You will now by sandwiched by Sea World Dr and the San Diego River.

Go under the 2nd bridge (Sunset Cliffs) and make a right (almost 180) hand turn up to the bridge, another right onto the bridge, cross the bridge, and immediately after crossing, go right onto the OB bike path and head West.

As you come down the OB path, take the first left off the path and onto Bacon. It might just look like a parking lot road, but you are now on Bacon. Take this around the baseball diamonds, and keep on until you reach OB Port.
